No - Wurst MC1.8 is not getting updated anymore. Wurst MC1.8 is fully compatible with 1.8.9 servers, but it is based on the original Minecraft 1.8 release for good reasons. Minecraft 1.8.9 patches several exploits that Wurst MC1.8 uses to give you powerful hacks like OP-Sign. Minecraft 1.8 is over 10 years old at this point and it just isn't worth digging up that old source code just to make a weaker 1.8.9 build that nobody wanted back then.
