You might see a "creative mode only" message if you're in Survival mode while trying to use certain Wurst features that only work in Creative mode. Please note that this is not an artificial limitation - even if you removed that message, these features still wouldn't work outside of Creative mode.
Getting into Creative Mode on a multiplayer server usually requires permission from the server owner. Here are a few ways to try switching modes:
Gamemode Switcher: Press F3 + F4 to open Minecraft's gamemode switcher. As long as you hold down F3, you can keep pressing F4 to cycle between the different gamemodes. Do this until you arrive at Creative mode, then let go of both buttons to confirm the change. Note that you will see an error message in the chat if you don't have permission to open the gamemode switcher.
/gamemode command: Type /gamemode creative in the chat and press Enter. If you have the necessary permissions, this will switch you to Creative Mode.
Wurst's .gm command: As a shorter alternative to /gamemode, you can also type .gm 1 or .gm c in the chat to switch to Creative mode. Again, it'll work only if you have the permissions required on the server.
If you can't switch, check with the server owner to see if they can grant you access to Creative mode.
