kt_1011 No, not anymore. That feature was called PlayerFinder, and it was patched in a Minecraft update several years ago. (I don't know the exact Minecraft version, but it was before 1.19.4.)
kt_1011 Yes, increasing your render distance and especially your entity distance can help. Keep in mind though that servers can limit your render distance and by default they limit it to only 10 chunks. There is no good way to see what that limit is, as it doesn't show up in your settings, but increasing your render distance beyond that limit just won't do anything.
