Hi NarcissisticMom, thank you for the feedback! I definitely agree with you that the capes would be much better as a one-time purchase instead of a subscription and I want to make it work like that one day.
The problem is I don't yet have a system set up like what OptiFine has where you can manage the cape yourself, turn it on and off whenever you want, have it auto-update when you change your Minecraft username, etc. Right now all of these things are done manually by me whenever people ask in Ko-fi chat, which is obviously very inefficient.
The subscription is basically there to limit how many people get these capes so that there is less work for me keeping them all up to date, until a better system comes along that automates all of this.
As for when that better system is coming, all I can say is "not soon". My priorities right now are:
- Developer tools, making it easier for me to keep Wurst and my other mods up to date and working. Making existing systems stable so I don't have to keep putting out fires. This has to come first because everything else would break down without it.
- General mod improvements, changes that make Wurst and my other mods better for everyone. Fixing bugs and compatibility issues, adding highly requested features. People donate mainly because they like the mods enough that they want to support their continued development. This wouldn't happen if I neglected the mods in favor of donation perks.
- Donation perks, like the Wurst capes, but also things like Early Access that need significant improvements too.
